Moving from preschool to kindergarten is one of the biggest milestones for children and families. Our Junior Kindergarten program is created to prepare your child for kindergarten and beyond.

Our School utilizes a curriculum program called Beginning to Read, Write, and Listen. This program is grounded in responsive, integrated instruction. Beginning to Read, Write, and Listen engages preschoolers in intentional learning opportunities and purposeful play to cultivate key social- emotional and self-regulation skills, and develop critical language and literacy skills. This program builds a necessary foundation in essential learning domains including mathematics, science, social studies, the arts, physical education and health.
In Beginning to Read, Write, and Listen the emphasis on promoting meaningful conversations throughout the day encourages children to explore and use new vocabulary and build essential oral language skills. The extensive collection of literature in Beginning to Read, Write, and Listen helps to plant the seeds for a lifelong love of reading and provides children with a window into a wide variety of experiences and concepts that help them understand themselves and the world around them.

Our Junior Kindergarten program provides the appropriate balance between an academically challenging curriculum and a developmentally appropriate program for young children. We look at educating children through many lenses in order to support our children’s growth academically, socially, and physically. By supporting children to understand themselves as active learners and to gain collaborative skills through working with peers, our students take the first steps in their development as critical thinkers who are intellectually curious and socially responsible. We focus on the process of learning, and encourage children to learn by doing.
Play is an essential ingredient for children; it provides the lush ground for exploring, trying out ideas, and building connections. We see the play of our children at Evergreen Christian Pre-School equally as essential as other activities, and we have provided a rich environment in our play yard and within our classrooms that invite children to play. Our teachers facilitate creative interactions between classmates to enhance the learning experience through intentionally setting up learning environments that draw children into play.
